Are you trying to letterbox your 4×3 footage?

Use the widescreen filter and choose the aspect ratio you desire (1.78:1 for 16:9).

The technique I think you are trying to do is take anamorphic footage and nest it in a 4×3 sequence to give you the letterbox. I don’t think it works the other way around.

How far off is your timecode? Maybe the settings are off on your deck and your set up for freerun instead of regen timecode? Are you doing an assemble edit? Did you run a little heads with heads/tails before and after the time you want your timecode to start? YOu don’t have to black & code the whole tape, just the beginning. If you want your timecode to start at 1:00:00:00 then black and code starting at 59:40:00, run the tape past the 1 hour mark, then tell FCP to assemble at the one hour make. You should also calculate your frame offset for dead nuts accurate timecode.

Not it doesn’t. The 14L5 handles analog HD jut fine through it’s built in analog component.

The SD 93 is not an edit deck. If you are trying to master to rs-422/SDI or component it won’t work. YOu can do it through firewire and get the weird, not exactly frame accurate record, but you will not be able to get a frame accurate master out to that deck. You can do it print to video and hit play/record manually, but then your timecode is all willy nilly. You need the sd-930 studio VTR to make proper frame acc. masters. The SD93 works just like the aj-1200A in DVCProHD.

To fix this, select all of your clips in the 8 bit timeline right (or control)-click and choose “remove all attributes” and when the dialogue box pops up, check the basic motion box, and then you should be good.
