Dig this: First, I hooked up camera and log and capture sees it as “ok,” I can control it — but it gets no picture; then I do a restart and my left monitor is black; FCP is showing up on the right monitor, but you can’t use it. Running version 4.5 with Tiger 10.4.4 (recently installed it but have used FCP since) on a G5 dual 2.5. What the heck is going on? Twilight zone?

Did you install OSX the right way? Wipe Harddrive>Install OSX>Install FCP and other pro apps?

    Hope this helps-

    Hang on Matthew —

Let’s not get drastic just yet. But Tony — do save his post for later.

    Try this…

    Go into System Drive/Library/Receipts

Then look for QuickTime###.pkg where the ### is 702 or 649 or whatever.

Grab ALL of those… even one that might say 704.

    Trashem

Go to your Apple menu and select Software Update.

    Run the QT update again.

    You should be fine.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I do not see a folder called “receipts”. Am I confused?

No luck with QT trashing. Guess I will try to to reinstall FCP.

So I am curious about your suggestion — no, I saw no such direction about wiping the drive clean before installing. Is that a must? Is that in the directions with Tiger? Surely not.
