Look at sports news or similar to get an idea. I think also depends of the thriller music acompaining your project. A fast/slow motion also will help.
DL Burguer transitions to have more choices. Note: not all works in PP2. I think the good ones are: 1,6,10,16,17,18,19,21,22,23. A bad one make PP not to start up. ( You have to go to Prog. files>Adobe> E.us and make a folder in there and throw in the transitions) If PP don’t start go deleting one by one while starting PP. (just what I did)Make a search to find “burguer transitions” it because I forgot the link. (Had from PP 1.5)

I also apply flicker removal to each still to avoid this annnoying flickering on each still noticed only in the final burned DVD disc.
Here is when I face one of the PP cons: apply an effects to multiple clips or stills; by means flicker removal, still duration, a dissolve between each and so on!!

Seem to me that insufficient disc space is refering to the DVD not HD. Remember that Encore in “automatic” get is own encoding matemathics bitrates to accomodate the footage. Don’t think PP is capable of making this by its own.
I never bother with PP for this. I solely use Encore. It’s so easy. In 10~15 mins I be able to start burning my disc with music menus, 6 chapters, etc.
Only of course, I have to render the PP timeline to be able to import into Encore and then wait for Encore to encode and burn the disc. (about 3 hrs for all)
But I think PP take this or more time to burn a disc.,, and not with same results! -
I bought a HP 1357c Media Center PC. (19″ LCD monitor,4200 dual core AMD Athlon proce., 250HD, 1g ram, DVD burner and 2 1394 inputs, etc) ($1100)at Costco
After this I bought another 250gig extra HD ($85) and a Verto (nvidia chipset) 7300GS PCI Express video card with HD output.($100)
Total money invested: $1285
Its working perfectly with PP2 and Encore
The only thing I regreat is 2 weeks later the same PC was at $699… in the same store!! S****t -
Why not you give to your customer the Mini DV raw? Can’t be more “clean”

I have a AMD Athlon 64 dual core 4200, 1.5 ram, 250g OS, nvidia 7300gs pci express and 2 extra HD 250g for capturing/rendering and assets. Working like a charm!
Then have and older Amd Athlon 64 3400; similar specs… same working horse! never had any problem with PP 1.5 or PP2.
I couldn’t see any difference in rendering, but in other tasks the dual core is faster. -
Never mind…at 5 frames rate looks close to what I’m looking for

You didn’t mentioned how you been capturing,(firewire, composite, Svhs) either the format (mini-DV, VHS, etc). Is the quality of the video being capture good?.
Premiere use .avi to edit and not MPG as I know.Don’t know a cause within Premiere that make poor quality as you mentioned, if the PC meets at least the PP requierements. So revise you footage. What other NLE editing were you using before?
Once you get good footage in PP, (I recomment you to capture via firewire from a good mini DV camera footage) then PP is straigh forward.(You mentioned don’t have problems with making cuts and xsitions, etc)
Better yet if you read the shortcuts to know better the different tasks of each. Edit> keyboard cust.)
To export … (you didn’t mentioned how you want the edited footage}
use Encore. …but export as movie as avi. This will create an .avi file that you can import into Encore and finally convert it as Mpge2. Don’t bother with transcoding parameters within Encore. Just leave all in Automatic transcoding. It works for me.For me the result are excellent picture quality.
Its a matter of time an patience to master this program. Continue reading this post and the Premiere manual as well as the help hints.
