    Hey everyone.

A while back I had asked for opinions on the components I had picked out for my new editing PC. Let me just say that the monster is assembled and running like a freakin’ clock! I had gotten a mixed bag of responses. Some of you thought I had great specs picked out and others said I would run into problems. I have been cutting a big wedding on the system and I have yet to run into any problems. So far, I would highly recommend the following components.

Motherboard – ASUS A8N-SLI Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce4 SLI ATX AMD
CPU – AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Dual Core Processor
    RAM – CORSAIR XMS 2GB (2 x 1GB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM
Video Card – PNY Quadro FX1400 128MB 256-bit DDR PCI Express x16 Video Card
Sound Card – Creative Sound Blaster Audigy2 ZS SB0350 7.1
Hard Drive – Seagate Barracuda ST3808110AS 80GB SATA
    DVD Burner – Plextor PX755SA
    Power Supply – Antec SmartPower 2.0 SP-450 ATX12V 450W
    OS – XP Pro
External Drives – 2 300 GB Seagates and 1 150 GB Seagate all on firewire
Firewire Card – Belkin IEEE 1394 3 Port
Software – Adobe Production Studio Premium package
& Sony Acid Pro 6 for music compositions
    Deck – Sony DSR-11
I am also using 2 monitors and a 15 inch LCD TV as a preview monitor. But anyway, so far, its working out great and I highly recommend it. Thanks everyone for your help when I was picking stuff out.

also, I am not using a RAID. For DV it’s not really needed.

Looks pretty good. I am happy to see people buy things and then be thrilled with the results. I am shopping for an HDV editing monster, so I am hoping that the Conroe EE is my route to Nirvana.

It’s cool when people put the time to give their PC specs, especially when they’re getting great results. I can’t tell you how often through the years I’ve come here to find out what computers people are using successfully for NLE. I never get tired of seeing such posts cause they help so many. It’s a drag to spend a lot of money (and time) on a new system and then getting lots of problems!!!

I bought a HP 1357c Media Center PC. (19″ LCD monitor,4200 dual core AMD Athlon proce., 250HD, 1g ram, DVD burner and 2 1394 inputs, etc) ($1100)at Costco

After this I bought another 250gig extra HD ($85) and a Verto (nvidia chipset) 7300GS PCI Express video card with HD output.($100)
    Total money invested: $1285
Its working perfectly with PP2 and Encore
The only thing I regreat is 2 weeks later the same PC was at $699… in the same store!! S****t

Don’t you just hate that??? PC prices lower so quickly. Plus, there’s always something better and faster only a few months away.
