I never touch my PC when capturing, rendering or exporting. This is a very intensive task that can’t be disturbed!
So you did answered your rethoric question.
I have a seperate PC for Internet. My editing PC’s are almost never connected to avoid viruses, etc.

I have found this in P 1.5 as well as 2. This happen from time to time but I don’t think is due to project lenght. Could be by the filters and the slow motions, etc.
Sometimes I make a cold reboot and problem goes. Other times remain.
But this in only in the playback. Nothing to do with final product.

Yes, this I was doing. I select the frame from the TL, export as BMP, then from the ones added to the project (an option when exporting) I drop it to the TL as a default of 150 frames. This is my work flow.

I don’t see any flickering until the DVD is burned. So for this reason the trial and error is very long to make.
Today I’m trying to apply a “desinterlace” in the video option>frame hold window.
This is happening anytime I capture a still and use it in other progs apart from PP.

Well, I doing the #1 and this is causing the “flickering”
To partially resolve the situation I’m doing both. I capture as you suggest in #1 and then when get the freeze frames in the timeline I apply a hold… one by one!!! There is too much steps to do this task…
I’m the only doing this??

I just wondering, what the heck is film look?? I have heard so many times that therm that I was wondering “what I’m missing?
What occupy my mind and efforts are how to bring to my customers the best possible quality .
Since I change my editing machine gear and get Premiere & Encore I’m very pleasant with the results…. but strange some “easy to do” tasks of my ScreenPlay editing gear.

Thanks all for the help. Anyway I give up. Couldn’t find a way. Anyway again, that forum is desorganize and not as “clean” as this. I will stick with COW.
My only concern is that the answers are sometimes so “dry”. without having in mind the question maker need more elaborate answers.

I have found same results when extracting a video frame. I don’t see any jerkiness until the DVD is burned.
How I can prevent this to happen???
I use Microsoft DV avi. The DVD final quality is outstanding except for some jerking photo stills
Any advice when capturind a video still??

To add one more variable… why not you didn’t trust in a AMD dual core processor???

About 3 weeks ago I was in the same position but I found at Costco a HP 1357c HP media center (I dont need MC but it help to capture photos and other goodies)This system is: AMD 4200 AMD Athlon 64 x2 1gig ram and 250g sata HD plus a wireless land and a 19″ LCD monitor. WOW! what a big difference! from a CRT monitor.

BTW, I have another HP 3400 media center for almost 2 years and this PC works like a charm…
When I saw the difference between monitors I ran to buy another to the old system ( a Princeton 19″ that looks terrific)

I’m working with PP2 and Encore and the rendering is fast.
I choose AMD after reading some facts about this processors in which the author stated that AMD have better performance. Can’t find the address where I read this info….but you can make your own search.I also consulted some gamers and savvy people and all agree with AMD.

You will need a video card because the system I bought don’t have it. I bought and nvidia 7900gs pci express. This card have HD and Svideo output so I can monitor the video output thru a TV. Also I installed an extra 250g internal and a 200g usb so I can share info between PC’s. Also I use jump drives and photo memory sticks for sharing small files.
(total cost was about $1300)
You won’t regret this desision. This is my experince of a daily 12hrs editing with Premiere and Encore and this HP’s
