At NAB this year I was told an updated version was coming soon.

I use a Canopus ADVC-100 and never have dropped frames unless there is a bad spot on the tape or I do something stupid like watch a movie on the drive I am capturing too (by mistake). I have even captured to USB drives and do not experience dropped frames.

I have the Canopus ADVC 100 and it always works the first time but if I exit Vegas Capture and then later open it back up again without exiting Vegas6 first it will have problems. Closing out of everything and opening it back up usually works. I don’t recall having this problem in Vegas5.

Gary Kleiner has an excellent DVD that shows this effect and a lot more. I recommend it.

October 25, 2005 at 2:50 am in reply to: HDV editing….what’s the best bang for your buck?I would buy an AMD Dual Core machine (if you are running Vegas 6 or plan to upgrade). Intel machines from Gateway and HP are out there right now for $1000 price range

I probably should consider setting up another login that limits the number of processes running because I seldom can run best or good if effects are added. I typically have color correction or contrast adjustments made because I have a lot of VHS in my current film. I also run about 7 tracks of video/audio. I work in segments and then do the “nesting thing” (which I love).

How has it affected the video preview in Vegas? I have a P4-3ghzHT and I typically have to stick with Draft or Preview if I have affects added to the video.

I used to have a electric radio control car called a RC10. I have a real 2 seater sports car and that little RC10 could jump off the line faster than my real car could. It even got about 30 feet in front until I rocketed past it at about the 35 foot mark. My 11.5 inch wide tires crushed that thing in the process and that was about it. I guess the bigger and better car just took a bit more energy to get moving. However, if you were impatient or jumped to conclusions and turned your back at the 30 foot mark you would have voted for the toy to win. You would have been wrong.

August 6, 2005 at 4:28 pm in reply to: Help !! Is there a standard fade in/out for broadcast commercial????The station I deal with prefers a few seconds of black (not blank) before the commercial begins and run 1/2 second short of the full time. I had 3 seconds of black at the end of the commercial as well. Your commercial probably should be 59.5 seconds. They also request a slate with my name and contact number. Even though they can use my commercial without all the extras I do it because they prefer it. You should just give them a call and ask what they prefer. The station takes care of fades, etc.
