Export from AE as uncompressed AVI which you can work with in Vegas (and it also preserves any alpha channels).

[John Gregoriades] “Is there a way to use Vegas to correct the pitch?”
Sure, select the event and hit the – and + keys (next to the backspace key).

Nested veg files (projects) first appeared in Vegas 6. I cover them in-depth in The Vegas 6 Primer (new features) as well as The Vegas 6 Companion.
If you are still using Vegas 5, you can still build video projects as seperate veg files, then copy and paste between two instances of Vegas.

[leslie wand] “can i install seperately?”
You should be pretty safe upgrading your current Vegas 6 version.
Always best to wait ’till your between projects, but it sounds like you could use one of the fixes in the update.Gary Kleiner

Assuming that you have your device hooked up to your firewire port and it is recognized by the computer, you should see it listed when you click on the ‘video’ menu item at the top of the capture window.

Sure, just render using an audio format (e.g. wav), or, if you want to stay with avi, uncheck ‘Include Video’ in the Video tab of custom settings.

[Terry Esslinger] “Now RSQ (really stupid question) Is the ATA cable the ‘ribbon’ cable inside the desktop and I assume that I can attach the extra hard drive to any open connection?”
Yes, the header (attachment thingy) is probably keyed so as to fit in only one orientation. Also you have to be careful about the jumper setting on the drive, as they can be set to master, slave, or cable select (probably your best best).
