Which is the best tutorial DVD for Vegas and architect, truthfully
Posted by Craig Scime on February 13, 2006 at 5:58 pmI have been using Vegas (currently 5) for almost 2 years now, but I would like to get a DVD on how to do some tips and tricks and even basics that I may not know or may not be doing correctly. I know Sony has one, spotted eagle has one, Excalibur has one, david ludwig, and a couple others are out there; but what is really the best.
In addition I would like to learn more on masking, compositing, parenting, 3D, and other such techniques.

February 13, 2006 at 7:09 pmI don’t know about a DVD tutorial but for version 6 of Vegas I have been using the book “Vegas 6 Revealed – by Doug Sahlin,” ISBN 1592009719 which I bought via Amazon.com. I think there is a version 5 also. It is a great book based on a step by step project based approach which teaches you just about every trick in the book at your own speed.. It doesn’t cover DVD Architect though. I have almost worked my way through it and I am a lot wiser about the program.

February 13, 2006 at 10:23 pmI’ve had the set from Gary Kleiner for a couple of weeks now and find it to be a very good training program. I’ve learned some good tips in parts of Vegas I use regularly and considered myself very familiar with and now have a good understanding of features I shied away from(the trimmer, for one example). Much appreciated was the easy pacing, unlike other training programs I have used, which frankly, were more like feature tours that made my head spin. UJ

February 14, 2006 at 5:58 amI will agree that Gary Kliner’s work is very good. I am a point and shoot person who uses Vegas on a need to know basis for specific things (use media 100’s mostly).
Gary’s training tools are well done and to the point, subjects are easy to learn and pretty well organized. My only suggestion for my type of learning is to have an index card so i know which DVD to go to, but that’s my problem because I don’t sit down and learn everything at one time….
Gary also provides good service and stands behind his products…
With pleasure!

February 14, 2006 at 10:59 amYup! Gary Kleiner’s DVD’s. One for V5 about 5 DVD’s in the box and one for DVDA-2.
There’s another available from another company, but not having seen them I can’t comment or compare.

February 14, 2006 at 3:07 pmI have both Gary Kleiner’s DVD’s and DSE (Douglas Spotted Eagle) DVD’s. Both of these were great. I still review these DVD’s to learn more. I would suggest getting both.

February 15, 2006 at 1:46 pmYou won’t go wrong with either one. I find that with many different teachers I learn more. Vegas is the best NLE I have used. I have tried several. So I wanted the most complete instruction for it.
