I’m looking to add more tools to my productions and After Effects looks like a great add. Can I work with After Effects and Vegas?

Export from AE as uncompressed AVI which you can work with in Vegas (and it also preserves any alpha channels).

Thanks Gary. The last thing I want to do is to spend big bucks on a program that I can’t use…been there, done that. Thanks.

I use After Effects and Vegas together for complicated animations and effecting all the time, and they work pretty seamlessly. One thing I have noticed, though (and this could just be a setting in my system that haven’t found), is that if I take a piece of footage from Vegas into AE, add an effected layer or somthing, then take it back to Vegas, the footage will be subtly more contrasty than the footage was originally. I really only notice it when I’m mixing footage that has been through AE with footage that hasn’t.
