    Hi John

This my way of doing this effect when not having it in a pre-made paid effect package. I apply the Glow effect in Vegas, White Intense. (see below)

It’s applied to a short duplication of the main track as demonstrated below

The result below should be close to what you where looking for. Just tweak it to your liking.

July 3, 2020 at 12:02 pm in reply to: recover auto save files

    Hi Martin

Vegas is definitely not liking something in your project. I can see 3 possibilities; a funky plugin, a blink in your Vegas software or a Microsoft ”special update”. In my experience, I’ve had to wipe and re-install twice in the last 5 years on account of Windows updates. That being said, if you’ve failed to open the saved file, by your account a few times, you may be out of luck. Personally, I don’t trust the auto-save feature. the auto-save feature in Vegas does not create incremental backups of a project. I’ve made a habit of saving regularly and every time with the same file name but with a numbered version. For example: File name = Acrobatics_V17, etc…. This way, I can go back to any point in time if for some reason I need to. If you rely only on the auto save feature and there is a problem with that same feature or something related to it, you’re up the creek without a paddle. The other problem with auto-save is that by default, it lays on the same drive as your Vegas software.

In my workflow, software is on one drive, original files on another, saved .VEG files yet on another, etc… with a backup on a separate drive for everything. You can tell that I go tired of loosing stuff… It’s a extra 30 seconds of work but nothing compared to having an extra ulcer… or a fist size hole in your drywall ! ☺

    Cheers !

July 3, 2020 at 11:23 am in reply to: Vegas Renders Video the Length of Muted Track

    Hi David

Vegas must be ”seeing” video up to the end of the render. That’s what it’s suppose to do. It could be as small as one stray frame. Your best bet is to always render with IN and OUT points and make sure that Render loop region only is selected. This way, you will have control over what you are rendering.

… and yes, I’m using V12 for this demo. This will work in all versions.

(As stated in previous posts, I don’t use my work comp for web stuff.)

    Hi John

Could it be that they are both on the same timeline and not on separate ones ?

Event #1 has Gaussian Blur applied with only Alpha channel checked.
Event #2 has Gaussian Blur applied with green channel un-checked.

Both are using masks and are distinct and independent of each other.

    Cheers !

    Hi Fabien

Let’s try this for starters. If you right click in your preview window, is the ”Scale video to fit…” checked or un-checked ? Does it make a difference in your centering ?

June 25, 2020 at 1:13 pm in reply to: Vegas stops at ”Initializing UI…”

    Hi Graham and Steve

Well, everything is back to normal, but I had to re-install Windows. You don’t really realise how much stuff you have and use until something like this happens.

@Steve Rhoden ”Why not try to uninstall the last Windows update or do a system restore right before that update was installed.”

Did try that. It fixed some of it, but not all. After a lot of mucking around trying to fix it, the best course of action was to wipe clean and start from scratch. Deadlines, deadlines. I am definitely staying away from that Win update ! On the plus side, the comp does seem a smidge faster… I had inadvertently installed Win 10 Home last time. Re-installed Win 10 Pro.

Cheers ! Thx for the support.
