A bit off topic but couldn’t help noticing your green screen setup. Minor changes to your setup will make it easier to key out your background.
First off, make sure that your green BG doesn’t have any wrinkles and is as flat as possible. Put your talent as far as possible from the green screen, this will reduce the amount of green light bouncing off towards your talent and create that messy halo around your talent. By the way, the proper green colour for chroma keying is Pantone 356 (RGB 0, 177, 64) non reflective. Also, lighting on your green screen should be evenly lit, have it’s own lighting and be independent from the rest. Take the time to experiment different setups and settings. Once you find the right combo, it will make your life much easier at the editing stage.

Hi Neil
As a general rule, laptops will draw the power from the battery and not directly from the power supply. That is why most laptops won’t turn on right away if the battery is completly drained even though the power supply is pluged in. Now, not all laptops have the same power requirement. If you’re pulling more power from the battery than the PSU can feed, that’s when your computer will have trouble running everything, not just one perticular software. You can compare this loosly to a pool with a 1 gallon per minute leak. If you replenish it at a rate of ½ gallon per minute, you will eventually run out of water in your pool. Same for the battery.

@Edward T. That may be true for some but I’ve been a user since version 3, back when Sonic Foundry was involved and just before Sony took charge of the software. I still have the reflex of calling my current version Sony Vegas. Old habits die hard…..

Hi Chris
The following example is what I understand from your explanation. It may not be what you’re looking for but it may be the gist of it. You can extrapolate from it.
1- Just select the required tracks by holding the Ctrl on the keyboard. No need to Un-group if you don’t need to.
2-Drag tracks to where needed (black line is your reference)
3-This is what it will look like.
As far has I know, the only way to insert a video without the audio track would be to separate the video and audio tracks before inserting them. I don’t know an other way. Maybe someone else does.
Cheers !

This is the Vegas Pro Forum. You need the Vegas Movie Studio Platinum
Forum to get the proper feedback. I don’t think that there’s a forum for
this here. Here’s a link to where they should be able to help you :https://www.vegascreativesoftware.info/us/vegas-movie-studio-forum/

Hi Rob
Happy to know that it prevented you from jumping off a bridge…
But seriously, watch this tutorial from Vegas Creative Software. It should provide you with everything you need to know about that specific feature.

P.S.: You may want to try adjusting your Levels before playing with Brightness and Contrast.

Hi Darryl
K-Light Codec Pack has been notorious for creating havoc with Vegas for as far I can remember. If you want to keep your Vegas humming along, I recommend you completely uninstall K-Light from your computer.
Here’s a link to a how-to. (Skip to 0:45)
Cheers !
