    Hi Graham

Did the stress test on the GPU (FurMark). Am using less than of quarter of my main drive. As I mentioned in a another post on an un-related subject, my work machine is used only for that purpose. No games on it (not even minesweeper) . I don’t surf the net with it, only for updates and work related stuff. I have another one right beside it for surfing and downloading. (lost work files years ago to a virus. learned from it).

I will have to wipe everything and start from scratch. I think I’ve narrowed it down to the last Windows update. The one with the ”New and ImprovedEdge browser. Other software (not all but some) were also affected after the update. The weird thing also is that half of my files and software, by the looks of it, were change to Hidden in Properties. Weird…..

Try to avoid that update for now… unless you get the urge to gamble.

    Thanks again Graham !

    Cheers !

    Hi Sean

In order to help you, we will need to know what are the types of files you’re using, and I mean all of them, video and audio. Please use Mediainfo on all your files in the original formats found on your timeline(s).

    Hi Le

If you remember what name you gave your .VEG files, try doing a search on your drive(s). If it was saved, a Windows search should find it.

June 9, 2020 at 8:04 pm in reply to: light rays not rendering like preview

    Hi Colin

I went thru a dozen effect with Prodad in Vegas Pro 16 and I did see a big difference in Preview when I went from Best (auto) to Best (full) just like Mike K. described. And my renders matched what was displayed. I’m not saying that Vegas Pro is perfect, far from it, but none of the other ones are either… and I’ve worked with some of them. They all have their quirks. (take a look at the other corresponding forums on Cow)

I would suggest that you look more towards your hardware. It could be that you have a bottleneck somewhere, in-compatible parts or even defective ones that may not be performing to peak capacity. A computer used for editing is not built the same way as, let’s say, a gaming one. A wild guess on my part would be to start with your GPU. Again, you may have a wizbang GPU but not the best for editing.

    Cheers !

    Hi John

The trick is to find the bottleneck. The usual suspects are the CPU and the MoBo bus speed. Speaking of bus speed, as an analogy, say you have a very nice Ferrari but you have to drive it on a narrow bike path, can’t get much speed there… Same applies to Hard Drives and and anything else connected to the Mobo and using it’s resources. That is why sometimes you come across someone with a lower end rig but it’s performances leave you in the dust… You also have to look at what software you have installed. Some anti-viruses are notorious for slowing down your rig and hogging resources. As a side note, the one I use for editing is not connected to the internet, has no anti-virus, games, etc. It’s dedicated to editing and compositing. Building a rig sometimes feels like alchemy…

    Cheers !

  • Hi Ryan

If you look at my first post, if you set your render parameters exactly to mine, to you get the same results ?

  • Hi Ryan

I did manage to reproduce your problem by trying to render with the SONY AVC/MVC (*.mp4;*.m2ts;*.avc). I got the same error message.

I rendered without any problems using MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4;*.avc) with these settings:

The only changes that I’ve made to the template was by choosing (Custom Frame Size) and changing the Width and Height and the bit rate.

Let us know if it worked for you.

    Hi Martin

Unfortunately, there’s not much we can do here about your problem(s). For starters, you will find that although we will go out of our ways to find solutions for every type of problems, we here strongly believe in the use of legitimate software. The advice and help are free but not the tools. If money for purchases is a problem, there is some really good free software available out there. Hitfilm express is one powerful editing software that comes to mind.

”Cracked” software will regularly create problems because of the unstable nature of the resulting product. It would most likely contains viruses and/or malware of some type. It would be a shame if you were to spend hours on something that would crash on you… or worst, destroy your drive(s).

    Cheers !
