Instead of re-installing FCS try to remove plugin that generates error.

Nope. If footage looks nice on control monitor w/ this shutter speed it should be okey down the line. I don’t like your workflow because it’s a little bit redundant. I’d go this way: capture in ProRes for editing in FCP. Then send to Compressor to down convert into MPEG-2 SD w/ meta data included and AC3 sound stream. Then import both stream as assets into DVD Studio and build DVD. This way you convert your material only twice – when ingested and converted in Compressor. BTW, IMHO, it’s peculiar shutter speed.

Time-line upper left corner: Switch Safe RT for Unlimited RT. By the way, this is bad resolution you are gonna edit there. Try to use more conventional (SD/HD) formats as your footage sources.

  • Open User Preferences and check how many channels you have in Real-Time Audio Mixing. If necessary adjust that number to meet you needs. Make sure your master sequence settings match those of your sources’.

Download plugin for fcp from canon then use L&T to ingest your material w/ TC.

I was referring to QT H.264 original footage from 5d/7d. Yes, preferably try to work with ProRes’s if possible or advisable. FCP has lots of settings. In your case those I mentioned above are what you should pay attention to in the first place.

Convert your footage into ProRes 422 HQ 1920 by 1080 25 fps field dominance – none. Use sequence preset ProRes 422 HQ 1920 x 1080 25 fps. That’s it.

I meant preview mode that’s what happens when you add SD to HD sequence. Render SD segment and check out result.

What I’d do if I were you. Forget about Final Cut Server – it’ll give you no advantage since it’s too complex and requires lots of managerial wits. I’d buy/rent decent raid and transode all footage into ProPres Proxy. Why? Because you’re in documentary and never can be sure that this or that footage is not gonna and up in final cut. Secondly, working with Proxy this way lets you further the line re-ingest HQ material to make comps in After Effect. This is my opinion.
