pro res question
Hi all
Sorry if this is a basic workflow question….but I’m a little confused on something and keep coming up with mixed answers from older posts.
Question: in FCP, I have always log and capture all my standard DV tape, and set the sequence compressor codec to 422. But as I have recently learned, shouldn’t any footage be converted to 422 before it even gets into FCP for editing? I have been converting my HD iPhone footage to 422 first, then putting it into FCP with perfect results. But that’s not tape. That’s put into the computer with a Nikon Transfer program.
So do I get my tape footage into the computer first with log and capture….then drag it out of FCP into Streamclip or something to convert it? Then put it back into Final Cut again…?? You certainly can’t use Streamclip or Compressor to import raw tape footage can you?
Thanks once again for all the great answers in here…and sorry for the confusion.
