    Hi there,
I’ve down converted some H.264 files in Pro res.
    Here are the stats…

    Format – Apple ProRes 422, 480 x 270, Millions
16-bit Integer (Big Endian), Stereo, 48.000 kHz
    FPS – 25
    SIZE – 480 x 270 pixels (Actual)

Problem is , when I put them in FCP 7 sequence and put any effects (slow mo, dissolve) the red comes up and i have to render all the time. can i change something in the settings? Any suggestions?

Time-line upper left corner: Switch Safe RT for Unlimited RT. By the way, this is bad resolution you are gonna edit there. Try to use more conventional (SD/HD) formats as your footage sources.

480×270 is not a real time pixel aspect ratio. FCP is designed to work with broadcast video formats. And those frame sizes are 720×480…or in PAL land, 720×576. Yes, you footage is ProRes, but the dimensions are the issue.

If you want to work without much rendering, you need to convert to the PAL SD dimensions.

No, you either transcoded or possibly, in this case at least, up-converted.
