For producing SD-DVDs from HD recordings I found very comfortable working in SD timelines (let me pan & crop) and rendering (as John says) to mpeg2 DVD arch widescreen template… be sure to render with BEST settings (not big difference with SD recordings)…
good luck

… I render uncompressed or any NTSC (or HD if required) template with best quality and progressive settings … then in the encoder tweak to optimize quality vs. file size…
good luck

After some tests I find a practical solution to minimize (almost avoid) the “jagged edges” problem of my clip ….. maybe some other EX users want to try.
Just render the mxf file (1080p) in Vegas to mpeg2 DVD arch NTSC-wide template, BUT make sure you render at BEST seetings (the same I always use when working with hi-res photos) and PROGRESSIVE scan in the custom settings…. I will make more testing rendering the HD clip on a NTSC-DVwide template, but for me this is a very good solution using only Vegas….

..thanks for your response… I just want to read about some tips to make DVDs from the EX3 (not another camera) just look better … there are some artifacts that I don’t know how to deal with… the quality is not bad, but coming from previous cameras (GL2 and JVC HD110) maybe I have higher expectations … I think something happens on the Vegas downconvert process (at least from 1080p)to std. mpeg that I have to find out…
Kind Regards

check (google) for “Memories on TV” …. consumer type program but with many automated functions, some very interesting (like the 3D carrousel you want…) … you can export an AVI from there and add final touches in Vegas to that AVI if you want….
good luck, best wishes for 2009

What I would do, is to use other tools like Videoredo to “convert” and maybe “join” the VOBs from your DVD files into mpegs again (without re-rendering and re-compressing in Vegas) and then re-make my DVD with extra files or whatever… you’ll only have to make new menus again…
good luck and best wishes for 2009
