What is the best AVI codec to render to? My Flash software takes AVIs and converts that to a Flash file. Under the custom feature in the AVI sony vegas pro 7 settings there are many options for AVI codecs?

Is there a dummies guide for this?

Rendering uncompressed or to a lossless codec like HuffYUV or Lagarith (both free 3rd party codecs) will give the best quality.

… I render uncompressed or any NTSC (or HD if required) template with best quality and progressive settings … then in the encoder tweak to optimize quality vs. file size…

    good luck

Yeah, rendering uncompressed if you’re going to ultimately encode to Flash works great. There’s also a freeware app on the ‘net called Super that will change just about any video file into anything else. It’s what I use for Flash encoding, either to FLV or SWF.
