I’ve only seen this once, but it was an indication of a codec that GSpot hadn’t seen before, as it couldn’t read the file header. A couple months later Gspot was able to correctly identify the now-standard codec.

We’re using much the same settings, other than 30p, 4 reference frames, and double your frame size.

You cannot create a desktop-burned DVD with copy protection without purchasing additional software. Even then, it’s a challenge. You can embed HD in a PDF document and password protect the PDF if you want.

If your source is HDi delivered on SD then progressive scan is generally the best option. If your source is HD progressive and your delivery is SD, then progressive is generally your best option.
If your source is HD progressive to BD, progressive is generally you best option.
If your source is HDi, and your delivery is BD or 1080HD, then you’re likely best to stick with interlaced. You’re going to lose up to 30% of your detail if you convert 1080i to 1080p.
I don’t recall how DVDA 3 manages progressive. 4/5 handle it just fine, no reencode, but I don’t recall 3 needing to reencode either. Most of our DVDs are delivered progressive.Douglas Spotted Eagle

Your capture card and related codec are not supported.
Vegas supports 1394 input from a standard IEEE-compliant firewire card. Occasionally, VFW cards will work, but it’s not officially supported.Douglas Spotted Eagle
