    Error while capturing video

    While trying to capture video in vegas pro 8 I get this error:

    Warning: An error occurred while loading the project file.
    An invalid argument was specified.

    My Hauppauge HVR-1200 video capture card is in the video menu but cannot be selected. There is no preview and reconnecting to the current device doesn’t help.

    I am able to use Cyberlink PowerCinema to record from this device fine, so I know it works. Is my capture card just not supported?

    Your capture card and related codec are not supported.
    Vegas supports 1394 input from a standard IEEE-compliant firewire card. Occasionally, VFW cards will work, but it’s not officially supported.

    I see, will there be any future support for video capture cards such as mine?
