Vegas 6.0 support of m2ts files
I have recently purchased a Sony HDR-SR12 and want to start doing HD video editing on the movies it takes. I own Vegas 6.0 and cannot get it to recognize the m2ts or mts files. Does anyone know if Vegas 6.0 will work on these files, or am I facing an upgrade of Vegas to 8.x or using different software.
BTW, my OS is Windows XP.

Don’t know whats wrong….Vegas 6 should be able
to recognize those file formats.

AVCHD support wasn’t added until Vegas 7.0e so yes, you will need to upgrade to be able to read & edit this file type.

Sorry, I just realized that you indeed have to upgrade
to version 8 to natively edit and have full compatibility

I have upgraded to 8.0. Same issue. When I try and import the specific *.mts files I get a message that this file type could not be opened:
“FILE G:\AVCHD\BDMV\STREAM\00073.MTS could not be opened”We’ve found out that this is not a 6.0 issue, so I’ll try and start this thread with a new topic. I’m also trying to try another Video editing app for the purpose of determining where the problem lies.

Since this is a sony camera, I’m wondering if the files have been corrupted?

They play wonderfully with Sony’s Motion Picture Browser. And since this camera records the *.m2ts files directly to its hard drive, I can play them off the camera as well. So I can say surely that the files are not corrupted.
I’ll reply back after trying them with other programs.
