don’t know about software that does it on capture but ADS pyro makes a hardware unit that will convert DV data to mpeg2 on capture.

for future :
you might SAVE the vidcap file on all Vegas captured projects – then if V re-capture media doesn’t work you can use the vidcap file to recapture clips … -
a few times over past years i’ve had 1394 drives disconnect .. i thought rebooting help but in the end the cause was the 1394 cable .. … the old 1394 cables worked 80% of the time BUT the 20% will drive you up a wall ..

i think this is also referred to as SLIPping .. the current clip in TL remains the same length but you want to change the frame it starts/ends on so you slip the shot to start a few/many frames later/earlier …

August 23, 2005 at 10:20 pm in reply to: Can Markers rendered with avi clips be reimported into new project?ALSO you can get your marker/regions into a new project by copy/paste in edit details using the OLD veg that you used for rendering …
IE: the old veg – say the edit starts at 20 sec and ends at 29 min and has many regions/markers .. you render out the new clip .. you then can either copy the veg and say rename to new veg 1- delete all the media and then drop the new rendered clip into TL starting at 20 sec = now all the markers /regions will line up to the clip …
now if you want to drop another new clip from a old veg at the end of new veg 1 – you then make a copy of the 2nd old veg- then insert TIME so the edit starts at 30min and lets just say ends ends at 45min .. you then go into edit details MARKERS and copy all the markers -then go to new veg 1 and paste into edit details markers = all the markers will go into TL starting at 30min .. next copy/paste regions … now drop the new rendered clip into new veg 1 TL … now you can close the 1 min gap between 29 & 30 min ( ripple edit so all region/markers slide)
you can keep adding to TL . just remember to keep inserting time into the old veg to get the markers/regions to start where the current vegs ends – in example above it now ends at 45min so i would insert 46min of TIME at head of next old veg – copy/paste region/markers then come back and close that 1 min gap …
