ok I’ve been using Firewire drives literally for years now, rendering stuff to them using Vegas.

Now it seems I can’t render anything without the drive dropping on me.

Using Vegas 6 and in some cases, VEgas 5 – things chug along then anytime 10-30 minutes in – the drive drops and that is that.

Any clues why? THIS IS ANNOYING AS HELL!!!!

I touch NOTHING, I do a power cycle of the computer & drives – everything comes back up so don’t tell me it’s the cables!

This may not be of any help , but
I recenty struggled with my son’s computer that was freezing at certian points. tried everything.
Last week I built a new internet computer and found I needed a graphic card, so I pulled the one out of my son’s computer. Everything worked fine until i went to windows update and downloaded an update to the graphics card.
Same crashes started happening! I used system restore to back up a day and then did not update the graphic card, computer runs perfectly now!

    Beware of windows update!

I recently changed most of my external drive hookups from firewire to USB 2 (which is actually a bit faster throughput) and am much happier with the connectivity now.
