  • I think it is way too early. There is no actual camera and they are in development still. A lot of the basic things are still in flux.

I would wait a bit IMO.

It is legacy support codec. Prior to Meridien (version 8 and higher of MC, all of Symphony, etc) there was a boardset called ABVB.

You will need to change the DIF data rate setting. It needs to be 100 or 200. I am not on front of one right now, maybe Walter can check his.

The DIF settings are last in the MENU.

    The answer – it depends.

IF you bought the OS preinstalled in the computer, you likely have the OEM version – which is not transferable in to another machine.

If you bought a retail version, you are allowed to install it on other machine assuming this is for personal use and not of business.

    Business use needs individual license.

    What is the error?

With image sequences all you have to do is to import the first frame.

No. Different frame rates prevents it. Even if there was, for the sake of the project I would advise that both systems workusing the same project type. Not doing so, will cause a very expensive online session.

  • I think you are mistaken on some points.

First, most people can barely get their head around a computer let alone dual boot systems. Even Apple OS 9 and OS X dual boot system where problematic to many users – especially the casual computers that Apple is trying to attract.

Second DVI, DVD, wireless and optical audio where standard on PCs before on Macs. It may not be built in on motherboard, but nevertheless ‘standard.’ There is a misconception that if it is not on a Dell, it must not be a standard on PC. In fact, like most inovative ideas – smaller companies like Alienware, Winbook, etc where loading up laptops far ahead of the bigger companies. You would be surprise to know that G5’s aluminum design was 2-3 years behind companies like Lian-Li.

Back to the topic – the problem with the Windows on Mac is that there is no tech support. The target audience for this *needs* tech support. This is why your typical Dell, HP, etc have at least 1 year – if not 3 years of tech support. Far longer than many Apple products.
If Windows support this officially *and* they support OS X in PC, then I think you will get casual PC users interested.

Apple have slowly addressed many of the complaints of the PC users wanting to transition (performance, 3D, etc), but there are still somethings left.

Avid generates EDL using a EDL Manager – a standalone application that comes with all Avid NLEs.
