Avid KB also mentioned something about a bad dongle (the system must be checking the dongle for what resolution is ‘allowed’).
Try the Dongle Dumper. See if it is reading your dongle correctly.

You can’t. They have 2 different methods of capturing and storing their media files and associated bin information.

What is your tri-level sync set as?

It is likely you need a Tri-Level sync.

Lost Translation is definetly Avid. Sarah Flack had her forray on FCP earlier in her career (Full Frontal) and decided not to use it for her next project.

It all depends on the frame rate/format you are handling. Rule of thumb is if there is a frame rate conversion going on (say 24p to 60i) you will need it. However if you are working strcitly with interlaced format that is 59.94/29.97 a regular blackburst will work.

Which is true. Hell It can outlast a $50K Avid or Discreet smoke.
Rule of thumb is if you are dealing with with progressive, flat frame rates (ie 60p and 24p) you will need it – especially if there is a cross conversion going on. For things like 59.94 and 29.97 based projects you can get away with your standard balck burst.
