  • Hi,

There could be multiple ways to achieve this as Mads mentioned one of them. You can use the standard masking option under Effect Controls > Opacity. As your video with talent on V2, you can create a circle mask or rectangle here and keyframe it. Circle mask is at the widest on the first keyframe so it looks like it is not there and go 10 frames and by making it smaller, keyframe it to the talent’s face, wait 10 frames and now keyframe the position and move it to wherever you want.

I use different machines for editing, so I always use an external SSD to collect all my materials. When I connect my external to any computer, I am ready to work. Only automatic backups go to the Movies folder of the Mac I work on. When I finish a project, I delete my temp files (Renders, caches, analysis files, proxies, optimized media) and move everything to an external drive.

iPhone 16 records in HDR so you have to work in HDR or if you are in a mixed timeline you can use a LUT to fix it. You can download the Filmic LUT Pack from filmicpro.com and use FILMIC_deHLG_V3 lut to fix it easily and for free.

It is always good to buy the latest especially if you are planning to use it for a long time. You should consider the price of the machines. If that is not huge always go for a new one. Of course, specs are important too. There is an M1 Ultra with 64 GB RAM and an M2 Max with 32 GB RAM at the office. I can definitely say that the M1 Ultra works more efficiently. If you are going to use it for 10 years and earn money from it, it will probably earn its money in 1 year maybe 2 years max. So if there is a 200 USD price difference I would buy the expensive one. And RAM is very important in the long run, always remember that.

I agree with Mads that PCs tend to be more reliable for Avid but do not back it up 100 percent. I have an M2 Max running Media Composer for the last 1.5 years without any problems. The only problem we had was connecting the third display, which is an LG TV. The problem was that part of the interface was on the TV, and as it was off at that time, we didn’t understand what happened at first.

It’s great news. It is a shame FCP is very bad at this keyframing issue. I will give it a go as soon as I can.

    Hi,

It is a bit strange as I can continue exporting the same before I update. Everything seems the same.

When you choose File>Share>Export File, the same old options appear. I can still use my previous Compressor setups. I cannot figure out why, but maybe you can try reinstalling and using Disk Utility to check the system.

Maybe I am getting older, I cannot see displays clearly without glasses anymore. What I actually mean is TV screens; 27 or 30-inch computer screens are ok but I am not happy to use TV screens bigger than 30-inch as a computer display.
