  • Guys a simple question real quick about how to circle crop a face in a video.

First of all guys hello once again.

I was watching a video yesterday and here is the link below:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hS6cDqFQsUM&t=263s

At exactly 0:06 time frame on the video, the guys face switched from the video to a cropped circle mask effect view of his face. Problem is that I already know how to create the circle mask thing but I’m curious how he animated the cool transition from the video to the mask.

Anyone has an idea how he did it? And with what video editor?

    Thanks guys.

    Hey Bobby,

Easy enough, keyframe a circular wipe effect (not transistion).
Keep in mind that you are having 2-layers of video, to make it work.

    Hope that this helps.

    Hi,

There could be multiple ways to achieve this as Mads mentioned one of them. You can use the standard masking option under Effect Controls > Opacity. As your video with talent on V2, you can create a circle mask or rectangle here and keyframe it. Circle mask is at the widest on the first keyframe so it looks like it is not there and go 10 frames and by making it smaller, keyframe it to the talent’s face, wait 10 frames and now keyframe the position and move it to wherever you want.
