Good lord, the list of stuff that’s wrong with FCP’s interface is huge and we’ve been screaming about some of the junk since v1 and v2. If you want to have some impact on the application, post to the FCP Feedback folder on apple.com’s discussions. The FCP team may or may not pay attention to the cow regardless of what they tell Ron and Kathy.

I’ve never used anything other than 29.98 drop frame timecode so I’m just wondering…one second is on second, regardless of the frame rate. Allowing for some possible drift over, say, 20-60 minutes, won’t everything line up fine?

Stope, for the benefit of those seekers who look up this issue in the future, can you tell us how this worked out for you?

they are different tools that only resemble each other on the surface.
You can compose letters in Excel but it’s easier to do in Word but both are fully capable text editors.

Motion and AE are both necessary in most advanced workflows. Which to use might be based on where media starts and ends up, who else is working on the project, and which sets of plugins you are going to make your investments in.

If you are making a living in motion graphics and have a Macintosh/FCP setup, you will need both. If you have CS3/PC, you can only dream and wonder about how Motion might make you life easier or more fun.

Oh, yeah, but I’d say mandelbrot or julia sets from Fractals, not fractal noise. then use tiling or kaleidescope filters.

This will NOT emulate real tie dye (I’ve done lots of this stuff with various fabrics and techniques), it will always look fake. You need to go buy some tie dyed t-shirts and scan the fabrics. You might be able to find stock photos of tie dyed fabrics.

Understand your frustration just not how you arrived at “completely broken.” Multiclips work on my systems. I’ll go ahead and say I think Apple’s design paradigm for multiclips is lame but they do work for us.

the fastest solution to chromakeying is a switcher/effects unit. Doing keying in software will always be slower.

Network rendering in my world is a sick joke. Adobe never made it work for After Effects and Apple’s promise is simply cruel.

Particular is a “solve everything” plug in around here. People use it for the weirdest stuff. There is a Particular forum, too, I think.

Never seen this SciFi thing of yours. If you want to communicate visually and make sure everyone knows what you’re talking about, you’ll wat to post a link to a file.

Editorially: I prefer links to still images because too many newbies link to a youtube clip that is twenty minutes and long want to know how to do an effect that appears in some odd five second clip.
