Hi, I am sorta new to final cut, so I know this is probably an easy thing to do, but can’t find how.

Anyway, I have some video and the audio is pretty low. I have raised my red volume bars in my audio tracks all the way, but I still need that extra gain. I don’t see an audio filter that is just a gain filter. I am using Final Cut Pro 5.1.4. Thanks for any help.

Keep looking. There is a ‘Gain’ filter in the audio filters bin.

And keep looking here too. Do a search, it’s been covered lots and lots of times.
If it’s the whole timeline you can raise the master gain. If it’s only a couple of clips
do as suggested in the previous post, or you can duplicate the audio clip which will increase volume.

Cool, thanks guys. I did do a search for “audio gain” didn’t find anything in this forum though.

Gonna use the master gain slider. Thanks again!

I never did find that audio gain filter. Looked through the names of all the audio filters too, but nothing. Is that a new filter that is in version 6 only?

There is a way to do this in FC 5.1.4.

Apply the AUDynamicsProcessor filter in Audio Filters > Apple. There is a master gain setting on that filter. Just raise it up as high as you need to.

    AUDynamics is the correct answer.
Duplicating the track multiple times is s-o-o- yesterday.

Yeah – really. I duplicated tracks for a long time (when I was too lazy to go to soundtrack) before I was tipped off about the AUDynamics filter.

[bogiesan] “AUDynamics is the correct answer.
Duplicating the track multiple times is s-o-o- yesterday.

And the dupe-clips make re-edits too much of a hassle.
