There must be a kid that has figured this out !!! FCP BATCH EXPORT
Posted by Craig Roy on November 9, 2007 at 9:02 amok morning all,
We are rendering out a million zillion HDV PAL 1080i to PAL 8 Bit black magics, as there are network renders out there that will take a AE script, MAYA script, shake script, blah blah blah, why hasn’t someone got one for FCP ? or is there one ?
I am fed up with my editors sitting around counting from a million backwards as batch export stops FCP in its tracks ….
FCP 6.0.1
a trillion Mac Pros
OOOdals of storage and 4 GIG sanAny advice on workflow would be hunky dory

November 9, 2007 at 12:37 pmNetworked rendering is supposedly coming to FCP as part of the Leopard upgrade. Not sure if it will be in the upcoming updates or if it will more of a major upgrade like at NAB in April.

November 9, 2007 at 12:52 pmEveryone has nailed it – you need to set up Compressor for clustering;
You may need to reinstall compressor (as well) because likely, the installer had the auto clustering to ‘off’. Last, make sure you have a Gig E network, as you’ll be pushing around files and it’s important that they go fast, fast, fast.

November 9, 2007 at 1:17 pmHi everyone,
cheers for the reply – I am trying to make the .fcp project file into a program so I don’t need to render/export 8 bit uncompressed it from FCP – As Walt mentioned mes thinks it is a update … soon – maybe !
Tried importing the .fcp file into Compressor and it didn’t want to know a thing about it

November 9, 2007 at 1:21 pmYou can’t take the project over – but you can take a sequence (or several sequences) and choose “Send to compresor”…or alternatively export out a QT reference.

November 9, 2007 at 4:03 pmHi Herbie,
I’m guessing you mean you have a whole load of sequences that you need to export for a number of different uses.
I don’t think FCP has a ‘batch export’ that will enable multiple sequences to be exported. However, exporting reference movie ( and not making it self-contained) will enable you to take this in to compressor – you can then set compressor to export as many flavours as you need. Save your export settings to use again for a quick turnaround, if you’re talking about an action you’ll repeat many times.
HTH,
Jason

I bow.
Network rendering in my world is a sick joke. Adobe never made it work for After Effects and Apple’s promise is simply cruel.

November 9, 2007 at 9:20 pmFinal Cut Pro does have a batch export. Simply choose all the sequences you want to batch export in the browser, right click and choose batch export. A new window pops up where you can choose the appropriate settings/destinations.
