failed to render
red error screenThere have been two major causes in the last few weeks. some tweak in the OS, QT, or FCP that has suddenly made the specs on your existing card invalid or you have two cards and are using a second monitor plugged into the second card.
Try Motion. You shoudl be able to render these effects in Motion which uses a different FxPlug processing architecture for the same effects that FCP fails. It’s a stupid workaround but it will get the project out the door.

CC Particle World has a floor that can be rotated to be your screen. The floor can be set to be sticky so particles stay put. The emitter parameters are similar to any other particle system and, because it is a 3D system, you should be able to give the illusion that the emitter is at the plane of the saw. Motion tracking will easily nail the emitter to the saw’s movements.
Changing the sawdust to the logo is a bit more complicated, can’t help you there directly but the “text into sand” tutorials here on the cow might give you some inspiration.

And I prefer to parent my cameras to null objects. I much more enjoy moving the null around than moving the camera.

AFAIK, the issue with FCP6 and multiple cards has not changed yet. FxPlugs that work in Motion will not work in FCP6 if you have more than one card driving more than one display. that is, you can have as many cards as you want but you can only have displays hooked up to a single card for FCP6. You can have all the cards you want and all the displays you want hooked up to all of the them if you’re just running Motion.

[Winston A. Cely] “I didn’t explain this earlier, but it’s mostly a jump from side to side. I ended up removing the ramp on the size and just have the ramp on the tracking, and now it doesn’t jump.”
By size you probably mean you were adjusting the pixel height of the typeface. This will initiate a new set of letters for each incremental change and the space each character requires will be different. What you want to do is adjust the scale of the text element, not the size of the characters.

I’m not apologist for Apple but your issue is probably more nvidia’s than Apple’s.

I’d start with making a copy of your project.
Mixing down audio is not a big deal, just set the pans and levels using the mixer panel under Tools. When you’re done, you will export the sequence to a self-contained movie. I’d put your bars/slate/tone, countdown, and end handles of black into the master sequence so you don’t get all messed up with FCP’s weird edit to tape protocols but that’s just my opinion.
You will reimport the self-contained movie and just play it out to tape.bogiesan.

I’ve never tried it myself but you might be able to export the nests and reference clips.
In any case, I’d be breaking this project up into more manageable segments or reels.bogiesan

Reshoot.
A friend of mine brought in video of his kids in a soccer game. He asked me if I could edit out the woman standing in front of him so he could see his kid kicking the goal.
Yor footage has been obscured by an optically opaque or refracting object. You could create a master displacement graphic with a gray dot where all of your spots are because the spots don’t move. And you can use that to displace some pixels in time and/or space from adjacent frames or the same frame and to blur the affected pixels with compound blur.
It won’t be pretty and it won’t make you very happy.

Shoot it and have some fun screwing around. You will not get useful green screen source footage from the 150 shooting DV against a roughly green cloth with pars and garage worklights. Forget it. Save yourself the grief. You’ll need better lights, better green, and a better source codec.Television is 30fps. Film is 24fps. Getting a film look can be researched in Google for several hours. There are no one-shot recipes but it’s easier to convert to 24 than it is to shot in 24 and then wish you had shot 30 so your slow motion effects would look better.
There are many flavors of 24 including baked-in film rate simulations that are based on 30i teimbases.bogiesan
