Spots on footage
Hi:
I’ve got some HDV footage that was filmed with a dirty lens. Does anyone know of a way to clean up dust spots on footage? Or, is there a way to reduce the spots? Any pearls of wisdom would be great. I really don’t want to have to reshoot.

Reshoot.
A friend of mine brought in video of his kids in a soccer game. He asked me if I could edit out the woman standing in front of him so he could see his kid kicking the goal.
Yor footage has been obscured by an optically opaque or refracting object. You could create a master displacement graphic with a gray dot where all of your spots are because the spots don’t move. And you can use that to displace some pixels in time and/or space from adjacent frames or the same frame and to blur the affected pixels with compound blur.
It won’t be pretty and it won’t make you very happy.
