I’m creating some text (one line) and I’ve applied a ramp to both the size and the tracking of the line of text. It looks great except that random letters jump randomly in size for a matter of a frame or two. Any ideas why my letters are freaking out?

Is it a Serif font, the interlacing of the font will cause it to jitter?

Nope, sans-serif. I didn’t explain this earlier, but it’s mostly a jump from side to side. I ended up removing the ramp on the size and just have the ramp on the tracking, and now it doesn’t jump.

By size you probably mean you were adjusting the pixel height of the typeface. This will initiate a new set of letters for each incremental change and the space each character requires will be different. What you want to do is adjust the scale of the text element, not the size of the characters.

This is my standard sigfile so do not take it personally: “For crying out loud, read the freakin’ manual.”

Ah! Good to know. I must’ve missed that section when I did the Motion 3 Apple training book. I’ll use the scale and not the size. Thanks!
