  • I’ve never done it, but a while back there were some posts about being able to burn a Hi-Def file onto a regular DVD and have it playback on some Blu-ray players. If you’re looking for a low-cost option do a search of forum archives.

Just curious — will compressor allow you to burn Blu Ray content onto DVD media using a DVD burner that will reliably play in Blu Ray players? Never tried this but it could be a good bridge….

I’d like to hear how this turns out. I’ve got a bunch of files I’d love to convert to a current format. My hunch is to get an older Mac that you can install an early version of OSX..or late System 9, attach a fw external drive and begin converting…

Still images seem to suck the life out of Final Cut. A number of people have advocated using Motion as a better tool to handle the “Ken Burnsy” stuff…

Bill was a friend of mine and if he was still around, I’m sure he’d be laughing himself silly – enjoying your comment 🙂

So, could I have compressed it XDCam to get the result that they were looking for?

Okay, just noticed something that I should have seen before (story of my life 🙂 Compressor has an MPEG-2 Program Stream with the right kind of multiplexed audio. I can set the bit rate to max 25 Mb/sec. However it doesn’t say anywhere that it’s 4:2:2 (MP@ML). The spec that they sent Friday has 720×480. Rather not spend an extra $500 right now if I can avoid it. Don’t know how much I’ll do this in the future…
