No they are the standard Canon MVI_#### format and I’ve used a ton from this shoot already. I suspect there might have been an issue with the card — who knows??? The weird thing is that they’ll play in most everything but FCPX… I have some hope that I might have some success using Adobe Media Encoder to “convert” the file format to something playable, but any of the Prores conversions I’ve tried hasn’t worked at all.

Thanks Andy! You’re awesome — though I’m sure you are getting tired of hearing that…

May 28, 2013 at 5:35 pm in reply to: Strange Problem Exporting-Need Ideas

I’m getting the same error message, “This item cannot be shared while it is still referencing media on the camera.” I have seen this in the past but there were red frames associated with this. Now the project and event files look okay, but it refuses to let me export and won’t provide any additional info to diagnose the problem. I’m up for any suggestions…

Don’t know if this helps but GoPro has some free software on their website that might be helpful.https://gopro.com/software-app/cineform-studio/
I’d definitely transcode it to prores before bringing it into FCP7.

I tried to see your link, but it wouldn’t open. FYI I do corporate shooting with Sony V1U gear (upgrading soon) light kit and condenser shotgun/wireless pkg for $750/day. When I’m shooting modest budget commercials around the country and hiring gear and shooters, I’m paying $800-$1100/day for experienced guys w/out gear.

    Okay that makes sense…

Wasn’t thinking of trying to run them at the same time, only whether being on the same drive might cause any problems. Some have suggested putting them on separate partitions to avoid potential problems…

“Also, from now on, a person should make disk images of all the HDSLR media cards which will then circumvent the log and transfer issue. It won’t help project that has already been started. ”

Jeremy, could you flesh this comment out a bit? I’m going to make the plunge into DSLR video and I’d appreciate your insights on how to “solve” the problem, before creating it…

    Thanks,

Just curious, can you confirm that the HDMI output doesn’t work when you’re shooting? I was thinking of getting one for an upcoming commercial shoot, but that might be a deal killer if the client can’t see what’s being shot…
