Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro FCP 7 and X play well together on the same disk?

I have both together under Snow Leopard. Haven’t seen any issues that I can attribute to them both being on the same drive. They can’t run at the same time so there’s no real interaction between them.

You can not run both applications at the same time.

There would be no real interaction between them even if they could run at the same time.

Wasn’t thinking of trying to run them at the same time, only whether being on the same drive might cause any problems. Some have suggested putting them on separate partitions to avoid potential problems…

Likewise… I’ve had no problem with both on the same partition.

I followed Apple’s suggestions for installing them on the same disk.

    https://support.apple.com/kb/HT4722

I’m wondering why they even suggested putting them on separate partitions?

I’m calling it FCX. They took the “pro” out, so I will too.
I’ll reconsider after the first upgrade.

On the plug-in developer list, someone on the FCP X team said the reason behind the ‘different partition’ instruction was to make sure no FCP 7 workflows were screwed up by FCS3 apps being moved and renamed by the FCP X installer.
