    OMG,

I am going crazy. I have HDV material shot on a Sony Z1U, 1080i/480i setting. I am trying to digitize the material but FCP is not reading the deck. warning – (Device is not connected, capture preset is not setup correctly) … Now when I take some DV/NTSC material and go through the worklow, easy setup DVNTSC everything works great.

I think I have tried every setting possible. I cannot figure out why the deck is not reading. It is set to auto read DV/HDV and even when I put it directly to HDV, does not matter.

Can you tell me what I have not tried. It has worked before with all the same gear.

    Thank you,
soon to be the incredible hulk

Sounds as if the device is set to iLink and downconvert to DV. Make sure it is set to output HDV if that’s what you’re trying to capture. Make sure you use the appropriate preset for your media.

    All the best,

    Tom

    Michael,

I have NO CLUE what your problem is, but I just wanted to give you a “Tip o the Hat”
for the best subject line all year! “Angry Bill Bixby Eyes…”

    That made me laugh!

Now perhaps someone else can help you.

I thank you much for your comment and glad you appreciate the visual. It was and still is close to it but still working it out. I hope my creativity can help with this hurdle. Have a great week… -Mike

Bill was a friend of mine and if he was still around, I’m sure he’d be laughing himself silly – enjoying your comment 🙂

Those Bill Bixby eyes must have created a new frame size 1080i/480i. Before he turned green and the eyes popped out, it was 1080/60.
