If the video signal drops out, as im sure it did, you wont be able to capture it into FCP. if you have access to a TBC, route your video out through it to another capture device, or try crash recording it to another VTR

[lasvideo] “I then sent it to Motion 3 to ad some titles and efx. Problem 1 was the transition from clip to clip was gone. Problem 2 the aspect ratio on the still was wrong (it filled the frame), but the frame size of the slomo clip was fine. Problem 3, even after rendering the 2 clips in Motion, they only palyed back at 2 fps.”

Haven’t played with FCS2, but in FSC1 this is normal. When ever you HL clips in the timeline and “send to” motion, all effects and clip mod’s added in FCP are striped. At first I found this annoying, but not as annoying as other issues I’ve had with round tripping, so i switched to exorting .mov’s from FCP, then importing the mov into motion, and vice versa to get back into FCP.

would be cool if there was two “send to” options,, one that keeps paramater mod’s and effects,, and another that sends clean as it does with FCS1.

  • I believe the individual file size limit on fat32 is 4gig.

which generation of MBP do you have?? if it’s the first run 2.16ghz 17″MBP I believe you are stuck with a max of 2 gigs. The 2nd run 2.33ghz is capable of 3gigs.

“…. puts a period on NAB 2007 with special guest Shante Ross…” (from podcast discription)

Is Shante your stage name, Shane? and would that be pronounced “Shawntay”? R&B’esque, kind of like keisha! I like it!

If you format an external HD for use on a mac, you can only read, not write the that drive on a PC. and vice versa on a PC using NTSF formating. Although,, if you format the drive with FAT32 formating you can read and write the the drive with both a PC and Mac,, but are limited to 4gig max file size.

  • with analog sources through a capture card (Blackmagic/AJA….) and using “capture now” you sure could… :-/ but not sure you would want to. If you’re recording into protools (mbox),, just export an aif with the same properties as your project and marry in FCP.
