  • HOW TO copy parts from DVD to FCP

Posted by Sarah Leisdovich on May 9, 2007 at 10:57 pm

    Hi,
I am editing a video for a network organisation and need to include material from DVD’s, previously made by different organisations. I don’t really know how I can get access to the material in order to edit parts of it, together with my own footage, in Final Cut Pro. Can anyone outthere give me any suggestions?
    Thank you!
    Sarah

[Colin McQ] “play with mpeg streamclip. its a free download and works great.”

Yes as you can set ins and outs to only encode exactly what you need.

and MPEG Streamclip gets so highly & frequently recommended on this site that ‘we’ should start making donations to its creator …

Somebody treid that a couple of months ago. He was told that they aren’t set up to accept donations…”thanks, but your money’s no good here”…

Maybe someone remembers more detail on that?

Yes I remember sending $20.00 and posting the suggestion here and a few others stepped up to the plate with donations. The money went unclaimed (paypal) and then I got an email saying he wasn’t ready to start charging for it and please don’t send money. Perhaps the developer has other funding that stiplifies “no other investors or funding”

With AVC, ProRes and other codecs arriving on the scene regularly it may be a while before they ever finalize this software. grin It could be an endless chain.

Good memory Debe but oh how time flies, this was back in Aug/06! Here’s the link.

After reading this he says maybe in a few months he may be able to accept donations. If anyone has any success at giving their money away be sure to let us all know. There are a number of folks on these forums who offer freebies and when we use them we could also think about purchasing their more complex ones as a thank you to them if we are getting good milage out of their freebies.
