I have taken a drive OUT of a firewire incloser b/4 when an ext. firewire drive failed. The drive still works fine and is now an internal drive. This was a IDE drive in a G4

I use FCP 5 and the Canon GL2 for capture on occation and I’ve never had a problem. It reads the cam fine. Try re-installing FCP. Do you have an Ext. Firewire drive also? This can be a prob. sometimes. Putting the ext. drive on a firewire pci card cures it.

I have this same deck – and usually people post deck control issues with panasonic gear. If you’re sure your cables are correct then it sounds like your component out on the DVCPRO deck could have issues. Maybe it’s time for a check up? Does the ‘S-video’ and ‘Composite out’ look ok?

it looks good. You’re doing well.

  • A clean install once in awhile is a good idea.
Just install all your software then proceed to the websites of the software and download the latest drivers/updates. Also, perform OS update on your mac. I believe you have to install FCP first. Open it and run it and then shut it down – then, install AJA.

You need to find a place that sells/services pro video gear.
Yellow pages, google, just search. From there you find a reputable place that CAN SERVICE YOUR GEAR.

Have you checked out the “Final Cut Basic” forum? You should probably be there. Live type will render w/ alpha – check your settings/prefs.
Deck control – check your settings, using firewire?
