  • The specs I saw for this on the BestBuy website (sony was down??) showed IEEE 1394 which is Firewire by another name. Look for THAT connection. Probably will be a smaller version than what you put into your computer — 6 pin verses 4 pin.

But use that and FCP’s Log and Transfer function.

    See if that works.

I’d go A/V out to a DV cam and then in via FW. Don’t assume.

Or, use something like DVDxDV or MpegStreamClip to convert to DV from the VOB files on the mini dvd.

Might try resetting the PMU… shouldn’t happen on a ‘new’ one!!! If this doesn’t work, I’d get apple care involved.

The article’s pictures are of an OLD!! imac… maybe there’s a diagram somewhere for the new ones.

Also – might try firing up iMovie and see if that works fine for a while. If it has the same problem it very well could be a FW bus issue on this mac.

    Scary.

Exactly!! Changing the speed in the timeline will extend the video. Changing the speed in the VIEWER won’t!!!

Sorry – not sure what you mean…

Hitting BB (b for blade…) lets you cut down the entire timeline regardless of how many tracks you have.

    Is that what you mean?

What type of video card is in the G5?

Do make sure all the windows aren’t overlapping and that there are no scroll bars in the canvas window.

Ugh… this does sound like a problem for you.

    Hmmm

Can you chop the sequence up with straight cuts and put them into new sequences?

  • This is what XML was made for.

    File – Export XML.

Check it out. Might be helpful – I’ve found the difference of sending XML vice Project files very helpful.

Sorry — no idea what ubits are, but if you mean metadata… like on a still photo.

Yes – a lot of the meta data that your camera puts on the video will be there in FCP. HOWEVER… more of it WON’T!!! Not to say it isn’t there.

I use a program called CATdv to catalog all of my material by metadata (including date shot and date captured).

Not sure 1) if this also works with HD footage.. .google it and check out their webpage, 2) if there are other options to you.

But for sure, not in FCP.

    Good luck,
