December 28, 2008 at 2:42 pm in reply to: Trying to export a small video using Quick Time conversion…video only plays in upper left hand cornerI’m a little confused.
First, is the video in the CANVAS window only showing up in the upper corner? Dbl check to make sure your canvas window is set to FIT TO WINDOW — one of the dropdown buttons (usually has a percentage in it already).
IF, when you set it to fit to window and you do indeed see full frame video then…
File – Export – QT Conversion
Change to BROADBAND HIGH
Click OPTIONS and then SIZE — if 16:9 change to 480×270 if 4:3 leave it alone. Back out and export.
This 1.5 minute export will only be about 5 megs and will look great for web viewing.
But what is your intent for export?

The black background is the default. If you want to add your own background you can move the text layer up a video track and then add a SOLID from the video generators. Adjust the color of the solid and you should be fine.
This also acts as a still, so you can add opacity keyframes and even ramp effects.
Good luck,

Is that ok?

Sounds like you’ve already made up your mind about things… but some of the key frames are indeed controllable. — You can manage them in the CANVAS window with wireframe + image turned on. Or in the keyframe timeline of the viewer window.
Try right clicking on the keyframe and see what you get.

There is a way… might want to google for it. I know THIS works though:

But there are better ways.

July 7, 2008 at 2:48 pm in reply to: How to upload SONY HANDYCAM SR11 into Final Cut Pro?You are correct – sorry… Best Buy page was wrong. Finally got to sony’s page:
Anyway —
You have a few options. Get a card for your computer so you can send hdmi into it. Expensive option.
What format are the files? Can you drag them via usb to an scratch drive and then you’ll need to convert them to prores or avchd type format.
Sorry — I’m no help. This camera is not for FCP. Or at least they didn’t make it very easy to use with FCP.

I’m glad the blowout fixer worked for you. It can’t really do justice to actual sky, but for little hot spots here and there it does do wonders.
For blownout sky I really like this technique — ref’d above:

Plus, it’s fun just to watch.
