I’m having trouble capturing logging and capturing footage on a computer at my office. We use iMacs with FCP 5, and device control and capturing works fine on every single computer, except for our brand new one. When I plug the camera in through firewire, it says VTR OK for a second or two, and I am able to control the camera through FCP briefly, but then it goes out and says no communication. Device control is set to firewire DV, capture is set to DV NTSC. Like I mentioned before, I have not had any problems with any of the other computers. It is a DVCAM tape, and we are using a Panasonic VQL0949. Any ideas on why it may not be working?

Might try resetting the PMU… shouldn’t happen on a ‘new’ one!!! If this doesn’t work, I’d get apple care involved.

The article’s pictures are of an OLD!! imac… maybe there’s a diagram somewhere for the new ones.

Also – might try firing up iMovie and see if that works fine for a while. If it has the same problem it very well could be a FW bus issue on this mac.

    Scary.
