i searched the forums and came up empty handed on this subject. sorry for what i am sure is an obvious question.

how do i view my u-bits in final cut pro. footage was shot on hvx 200 with ubits set to the date. i have heard that you cant get to see your u-bits in fcp but that makes no sense to me. please help a shooter trying to manage footage in a program he knows little about.

Sorry — no idea what ubits are, but if you mean metadata… like on a still photo.

Yes – a lot of the meta data that your camera puts on the video will be there in FCP. HOWEVER… more of it WON’T!!! Not to say it isn’t there.

I use a program called CATdv to catalog all of my material by metadata (including date shot and date captured).

Not sure 1) if this also works with HD footage.. .google it and check out their webpage, 2) if there are other options to you.

But for sure, not in FCP.

    Good luck,

You can see the DV user bits and other metadata in DVMP Pro, but it runs on the PC only.
