Thanks Walter. I don’t know and can’t check how the deck was set – it was a rental. Will I have any problems or limitations working with the 59.94 video in a 29.97 timeline?

Your comments are very helpful. To use the Marshall, I also need a V mount battery, charger, Noga arm, case – around $2,100 total. The Panasonic with case, Anton Bauer power option (I have batteries and charger) and tripod stand will be about $3,500. But I’ll have a better (and more bulky) field monitor plus an HD studio monitor. It is good to hear that both work well, but I think “The Panasonic 17″… is just better in every way” is what I needed to hear most.

Can’t you check anamorphic “yes” in the FCP browser for each clip after you import and have FCP recognize them correctly? I haven’t used the HD1200 deck, but have imported from dvcpro tapes shot 16×9 – via firewire and all worked fine.

How do you repair persmissions? I did a help search withing the OS (Tiger) and FCP5 and can’t find anything. Thanks.
