Old FCP Plugins (boris CHV CGM etc) aren’t showing up in FCP 5) have tried putting them in Library/Application Support/Final Cut Pro System support/Plugins — – they won’t show up….also Boris text 3d isn’t there – read a recommendation to put it in a folder called Boris and reload program – no luck – any ideas? Thanks Andy Field

On line with Apple – seems as this may be a problem with the upgrade version of FCP5 from earlier.

If you have this problem here’s what they suggest.

    1. Go to Boot drive/library/receipts/finalcutpro.pkg
    delete Finalcutpro.pkg in that folder

ALSO take the Plugins folder and move to desktop Library/Applicationsupport/final cup pro support/plugins

    Repair permissions

    Restart

Get FCP5 install disk – and reinstall JUST final cut pro (when you get to options for others Motion etc – uncheck all)

Once you reinstall – just for good luck – repair permissions again

    reopen Final Cut 5

The boris folder should be in the effects/generator folder and all sould be well.

BUT – carefully reinstall third party plugins one at a time – I put all of them back in – boris Title 3d disappeared again – pulled them back out – and put back one at a time – if one plug in is not compatible it seems to bring the entire plug in folder down.

Thanks, saved me a bunch of time. It turned out to be the Automatic Duck Pro Import that was crashing the plugin folder.

I’ve now reloaded everything but the Boris Red FCP plugins – can’t say for sure that’s what caused the problem but will keep experimenting.

All seems well – improvements in Motion and Live Type are amazing – take time to use the tutorial DVD’s – loaded with useful hints….

If you are having problems with Boris RED the problem might be corrupt fonts. I had exactly that problem- for some reason the bad fonts did not show up until after the FCP5 upgrade. I used Font Doctor- took a while and had to re-run it several times but now Boris is happy.

if you can’t find the program in your Utilities Folder – do a search for DISK UTILITY – open it – select your hard drive and then click repair permissions
