changing the shadow settings would do nothing if you haven’t enabled shadows in the General tab of the lights attributes. If you’ve done that…

Try the TP Presets in the Content Browser – TP FollowSpline, maybe TP Follow Object, which doesn’t do anything for random brownian motion but it’s a start

Wild guess, probably wrong… maybe change the Render Threads in the Preferences from Optimal – 1 is obviously not what you are looking for but maybe 2 would be different than Optimal in internal implementation.

Depends on the look you are going for and what the background is. Totally simple would be a 2D Circular gradient in Alpha, white to black, control size with Length X and Length Y in the Material Tag, or a 3D Sperical Gradient where size and placement could be controlled in the Gradient dialog. Unless you are going for a different look than those will give…

[linkoping skrills] “i like that the new 9.6 runs on the new intel macs, which is great, but will this be a non native app running on older macs. does anyone forsee this as a problem.”

It is not a non native app on PPC Macs, actually there are two binaries provided, a Universal which will run on both PPC and Intel (but does not run older C based plugins) and a PPC only binary which does run older C based plugins.

It should be noted that any Coffee plugins work with both versions (assuming they work with 9.6) and there are already a few C plugins that have been converted to Universal so they will work with the Universal C4D, more to follow we trust and, of course, all the modules from Maxon are Univeral…

June 6, 2006 at 5:04 pm in reply to: Reflecting a black object

the default world in C4D (and most(?) other 3D programs) is black. So when you have a plane reflecting a black cube and the world behind that is black you see nothing because the cube is identical to the background (except for specular highlights which could be reflected) which is why any other color does show, it’s different from the background. If you want a black cube to show up in a reflection the ‘sky’ can’t be black too. There has to be a room or a sky object or an environment or something to reflect that will be different than the black cube.

With the cylinder as a primitive then no, but if you make the cylinder editable the you can make divisions with the knife tool in the ‘right place’
