Hello – I am trying to smooth a bend in a pipe. I’ve maxed out the height segments for the cylinder. Is there any way to apply a certain number of segments to a specific part of a cylinder? I don’t need 1000 segments distributed over the entire pipe since there is only one bend.

    I’ve uploaded an image here:

    Thanks in advance,
    Rachel

With the cylinder as a primitive then no, but if you make the cylinder editable the you can make divisions with the knife tool in the ‘right place’

You should greate your pipe using a Sweep Nurbs. Not only will it be more smooth (because it’s based on splines, it will create more geometry in the curved area), but also much easier to edit. also from a technical standpoint it’s better technique.(no offence)
