i like that the new 9.6 runs on the new intel macs, which is great, but will this be a non native app running on older macs. does anyone forsee this as a problem.

also, i am trying to convince my workplace which is a mac AE/design + PC/3DS max shop, right now with seperation between 3d artists and mograph designers, is there any integration. i am trying to have more to say to my boss about this. i would prefer to continue on macs, since we have 4 or 5 people set-up that way with software, which to me is the best part of C4D, it being a good app that runs on mac, with decent integration to AE. are people happy with the integration. most of us designers arent trying to do shrek 4, just some cool 3 elements in our designs.

    cheers

also, would mo graph add that much to motion graphics. it sort of seems like a bunch of presets. are any hard core users stokes on these as tools that can go beyond whats on the demos? is it worth it to get the mograph bundle, or just get the basics and learn to build from that…

[linkoping skrills] “i like that the new 9.6 runs on the new intel macs, which is great, but will this be a non native app running on older macs. does anyone forsee this as a problem.”

It is not a non native app on PPC Macs, actually there are two binaries provided, a Universal which will run on both PPC and Intel (but does not run older C based plugins) and a PPC only binary which does run older C based plugins.

It should be noted that any Coffee plugins work with both versions (assuming they work with 9.6) and there are already a few C plugins that have been converted to Universal so they will work with the Universal C4D, more to follow we trust and, of course, all the modules from Maxon are Univeral…

As Brian said, the UB version includes both, naive support for PPC and Intel based Macs.
Maxon is currently offering exta documentation for plugin developers so they can easily switch their development from PPC only plugins to UB plugins.
As for MoGraph, if you think it’s only presets then you have never tried the demo 🙂
The examples that come with it can only show a very small part of what is possible with MoGraph.
To the best of my knowledge there is no comparable tool.
Regarding AE, CINEMA 4D has the best AE integration you can get from any 3D app.

    Cheers
