did you check ‘Collision Use Rest Speed’ in Solver Object/Details?

check out the Help for the Solver Object Details tab. It explains more completely (and with diagrams too) than I easily could.

You turned the Elasticity on the text way down yes? It hits, does not bounce (much) and immediately sits on the surface and the Gravity keeps trying to drag it through – but the collision eps is reached or exceeded, lots of calculations (since the entire surface is in contact) so it bogs down. Even worse if you are using Full Collision rather than box for your text.
The fix is simple, in Solver Object/Details check off ‘Collision Use Rest Speed’ this stops the Gravity from dragging the text once it goes below a set speed (which you may need to adjust) so the text hits, can even bounce a bit, then stops.
You may want to up the Subsampling rate in the Solver Object/Main tab particularly if you lower the Collision eps.

    Isn’t this what you’re after?

set the caps in the extrude to be Triangles or Quadrangles then check off Regular Grid and set the width to something small enough to give you a bulge. That will work if you don’t bulge/distort too much (if you do the edges can look nasty)

I assume you are cloning a plane or a box for the squares. Make two, put a white material on one, a black material on the other put both in your Cloner Object and set it to Iterate.

check off Glow Distance Scale in the Light Object’s Lens tab (and possibly Reflex Distance Scale if you are using Reflex)

It’s all in the settings for Rotational Mass and the two frictions Static and Dynamic (well, mostly dynamic in this case) You have to play with the settings to get what you want but here’s an example

memory would likely help but nothing will save you from some things. Do the windows need that much detail? Could they be simpler and look the same? How close do you get to them?
How much booling is going on? Any generator takes calculation every frame/change it can be quicker to just make it editable unless you are animating the booles and they need to stay booles.

zoom out a lot, Adobe uses the lower left corner of any image as the origin of an Illustrator file so if your path was near the top (or not particularly close to the lower left corner) it will be quite a long way away from C4D’s origin

Photoshop saves ‘Paths to Illustrator’ exports in the ascii (text) format not the usual binary you are probably used to. C4D will still open it.
