You don’t even need Traffic. If you sort by timecode, & then drag them into your timeline, they’ll already be in sequence. Whether or not they ‘align’, say a clip with starting TC of 1:23:32;18 lining up to the timeline at 1:23:32;18 is another matter. That may take some additional work.

I doubt that you will find one. There is no ‘HDV spec’ like there is for DV. The only thing about it that’s standard is the mini DV tape that they all use.

No, it doesn’t. You just need to add your handles to the clips before you nest them. Just like you need to keep handles in mind for any transitions.

There’s always going to be some group of users who need to add cards or internal drives to get their work done. Or will need to be able to upgrade their GFX card as faster ones are developed. Or will need the extra memory slots. Or…

The BEST way to do DfN is to shoot in B&W with a red filter over the lens to darken down the sky. In color, people have used any number of blue, ND or other filters to darken or tint the footage, but it always tends to look fake, even on big budget, A list productions.
If you HAVE to shoot it during the daytime, you might be able to use a good colorist &/or compositor to help sell the effect by darkening down background areas, replacing sky, etc.

Can you open the file in any other program? Photoshop perhaps? Try resaving the file in PS & then see if you can import it.
